After years of seeing other doctors and getting epidural injections, nerve ablations, acupuncture and pills for back pain, which only helped temporarily, I decided to see Dr Yuan after he was recommended by a friend. He recommended some physical therapy to start, and what a difference that has made!! Pain level has dropped, and I am able to manage it on my own with the exercises and stretches I have learned. Not sure why this was never recommended before! Thank you, Dr. Yuan!

This ttoral hip replacement was my first ever surgery. The staff and Dr.’s ovetseeing my care made me feel secure and safe. My pre surgery strengthening as suggested has shortened my recovery by 4 weeks as it seems my range of motion has been documented at 6 weeks rather than 10 weeks. Do the pre op work and Dr. Tsai will match in robotic assistance joint replacement.

Additional information: Dr. Kurzweil is outstanding along with his staff before and after my complete left knee replacement. He was very courteous and processional during and after my knee replacement surgery. VERY detailed in the surgery procedure. I had this performed on 4/6/23 and after following his post-surgery instructions chart along with physical therapy my knee is like NEW and the incision is hardly noticeable. No pain at all and back to normal! His assistant, Clara, was also excellent when we arrived for pre and post operation visits. I would recommend Dr. Kurzweil for anyone with knee concerns because of his vast knowledge and operational procedures. It turned out excellent! Five STAR+ rating!!!

Dr Warden explained the results of the MRI which I had on Monday. It showed no break, but a rotator cuff tear. He explained the options to me – surgery or PT and due to my age (soon to be 85) he recommended PT as the best option. He gave me some exercises to do at home before I have my PT appointment. I only wish I had written them down as I do have a hard time remembering some things, at this point in my life!

I am a healthy 80 year old & i am still skiing black diamonds, thanks to Dr. Juan. Several years ago I had discomfort & numbing in my left arm & hand. Dr. Yuan performed a cervical discectomy & fusion which provided & very successful outcome. He advised me then that I also had degenerative arthritis in my lower spine but he said that he simply wanted to monitor it since i had no discomfort & that surgery is always his last resort. Last September I suffered a severe sciatic nerve issue, triggered by an event. I could not sit for more than 5 minutes. The pain was becoming intolerable. Dr. Yuan “pulled out all the stops” after his evaluation & had me in surgery within a couple of days. He performed a laminectomy & a lower spinal fusion which provided an immediate remedy and a rapid recovery. I feel that he is an excellent surgeon and every Doctor & Nurse i spoke to in the hospital gave him praise.

As a patient of Memorial Orthopaedic for the last four years, I was referred to Dr. Tsai after spine surgery as I was having problems with my hip. He started with injections, which provided short term relief. In August 2022, he performed total hip replacement. I was released from care yesterday and I am feeling great! I was seen in the office , for my 8&10 month post op( spinal fusion, and fracture repair. We, very briefly went over my epidural results,as well. He, checked my surgical sites , gait, forward ( reaching towards floor, and back wards bend. Dr. Yuan’s evaluation and suggestions for my orthopedic issue were helpful, once I saw him. However, dealing with the appointment desk the previous day could not have been more frustrating. Constant transfers between that extension and the nurse’s extension included the line ringing, unanswered, on multiple calls, for a ridiculously long time; constant transfers to and from the nursing extension that, at one point, disconnected me completely, forcing me to start the whole process again; and the initial failure to inform me about who was responsible for the referral process (from my PCP to Dr. Yuan) until a later phone call, when I should have been informed earlier so the necessary step in the process could have been initiated earlier. I had already waited a couple of weeks for my orthopedic issue to resolve itself through rest, heat, etc., so when I decided to seek professional help, the disorganization of the appointment process was especially unhelpful.

I had a great experience with Dr. Yuan and his assistant. They were very attentive, thorough, and friendly. I was able to have an x-ray in office and discuss the results immediately. He prescribed physical therapy and was able to make recommendations for improving my pain. The parking lot and building are a little confusing to maneuver. If you have limited mobility due to injury, the entrance is in the back. Paid parking is near that entrance. I parked far away and walked. I had difficulty finding the entrance as it is not on the street. Once inside, everything went smoothly and my appointment was on time!

Dr Yuon has been excellent In my ongoing back pain treatment. He has also taken time on the phone or through zoom to help with treatment options. I had a very good outcome with a minimum amount of pain. The operation was performed in the early A.M. and I was home by 4:00 P.M. the same day. I started self P.T. at home for two weeks and then transitioned to out patient P.T. for 8 sessions. I’m 78 and was able to walk with out a cane in about 10 days. I went to see Dr. Yuan with 10+ neck pain going down my arm to my fingertips. I thought that I would have to have surgery. Dr. Yuan sent me to get a series of 3 epidurals in my neck and to physical therapy. Dr. Karp, the anesthesiologist, administered the epidurals and it took ALL of my pain away and gave me my life back. I am so grateful!!!

I went in to Dr. Yuan with bad sciatica and an MRI showed a growth in my spinal column. Dr. Yuan did a laminectomy and removed a large cyst. Within two weeks, I was back on my feet and able to walk over a mile and drive and no pain!! I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Yuan. He also did a successful back surgery on my husband two years ago!

Dr. Michael Pahl was recommended by my co-worker when I needed a orthopaedic surgeon for my rotator cuff surgery, Best ortho surgeon and best staff that a patient could ever had! Started off with Dr. Yuan with our son who had a back injury from a bike accident. Very happy with results. Then, a few years later, I had a major neck problem that need surgery. He explained my options in detail, with pros and cons. When completed… a fast and instant recovery, GREAT ! I went in with bad balance and other issues, came out with perfect balance and other problems solved. Good follow up and, the only DR I know that starts appointments at 8 AM. Great results, will be with him for life, as well as my children. I’m happy to share.

His office has in house x-ray and MRI facilities which makes scheduling and having the films available for your doctor super easy.

Dr. Kurzweil is a wry good doctor. My knee feel better and I’m only 5 days out of surgery. My only complaint would be his staff didn’t seem to care that I had an allergic reaction to my pain meds. I was itching in recovery, in my room and when I got home. I was told I could take the pain meds and live with the itching or don’t take the pain meds live with the pain and have no itching. That wasn’t acceptable. I also was instructed to contact my primary doctor to see if he could help. Which I did and thankfully he prescribed something that didn’t make me itch. I still have some pain as the meds aren’t as strong. I am planning on having Dr. Kurzweil do my left knee next year however I will at least know what I can and cannot take.
